Job description
Job title: Personal assistant

Area: Lampeter

Hours of work: 12 hrs term time, 15 hrs during holidays including occasional night support within the family home

Rate of pay: £15 per hour plus holiday pay.

Introduction

Dedicated experienced and professional Personal assistants are required to provide support to a service user who is a young boy (10 years old) with challenging behaviour and additional needs. The support requires undertaking “adventures” in the community so a good local knowledge of “what’s on” in the area would be an advantage and sometimes within the family home, providing the same level of support as his parents provide.

The package of care is to enable the family to have time out from their caring role, knowing he is in a safe environment, and gaining essential life skills through fun.

Activities may include: swimming, beach or nature walks, cinema, as well as cooking together, reading stories or arts and crafts indoors.

There is an occasional night element to this appointment where the Personal Assistant is required to be awake during the night in the family property, providing security and support if required.

Main tasks/activities
  • To provide support and encouragement at home and in the community.
  • Undertake toileting and personal care tasks if required to ensure the client is comfortable.
  • To engage and encourage activities that learn through play.
  • To always ensure the health, safety and welfare of the individual when on duty.
  • To keep accurate records of activities and progress and timekeeping.
  • Keep family fully updated on activities and progress.
  • Be aware of protocols and reporting procedures regarding safeguarding.
  • Carry out any other reasonable requests in line with the client’s care and support plan, that the employer may make from time to time.
