Overview

Black Country Women's Aid (BCWA) is an established charity providing accommodation and community support services to victims of domestic abuse, sexual abuse and human trafficking. Services are client- and needs-led and include advocacy, civil remedies, court support, individual and group support, and access to therapeutic interventions.

This position is within the Community Domestic Violence and Abuse Support Service, which supports victims in Sandwell, Dudley, Wolverhampton and Walsall through contracted/commissioning arrangements and works in partnership with BCWA and key agencies using a trauma-informed approach.

Job Role

Job Title: Domestic Abuse Practitioner (maternity cover)
Position: 1 part-time (12 months maternity cover) – 22.5 hours per week (days negotiable) based in Dudley
Salary: £14,586.02 (unqualified) – £17,483.45 (qualified) pro rata; £24,310.04 (unqualified) – £29,139.08 (qualified) FTE

Responsibilities
  • Work within the family safeguarding team to provide support to victims of domestic abuse referred from Children's services, specifically those on child in need and child protection plans.
  • Support victims using the Family Safeguarding approach, contributing to multi-disciplinary work within Dudley Council and BCWA.
  • Contribute to collaborative practices between Dudley Council and BCWA to improve outcomes for families through shared learning and training.
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Experience of supporting victims/survivors of domestic abuse and managing a caseload.
  • Understanding of safeguarding children and adults, and the dynamics of domestic abuse.
  • Self-driven, conscientious, hardworking with ambition.
