Job description
Overview

As the most senior nurse and compassionate leader in the Division, the Divisional Head of Nursing (DHoN) will carry responsibility to act as strong role model for all colleagues by demonstrating credibility, visibility and strong commitment to identifying development opportunities, celebrating success, encouraging creativity, innovation and excellence in practice. The DHoN will lead on the Trust Wide Quality, Governance and Compliance standards across the Division with responsibility for Division wide quality governance, compliance, clinical audit, research, development and quality agendas. The DHoN is primarily responsible for supporting the provision of high-quality nursing and clinical care focusing on safety, effectiveness and experience agenda.

The post holder is an integral member of the divisional senior management team and a member of the Trust senior nursing team.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the quartet to have shared accountability for the operational performance and strategic development of the Division, including accountability for high quality patient care, patient safety, safeguarding, clinical quality and governance, the delivery of agreed performance and financial objectives, and ensuring that the division operates with the needs of people who use services and their carers as its highest priority.
  • Deliver visible leadership to nursing and care staff within the division in order to constantly improve the quality of nursing practice delivered to people who use services. This will be in line with agreed objectives, targets, quality standards, resource controls and constraints, and will lead the delivery of the nursing strategy for the Division and join the Chief Nursing Officer and other nurse leaders in the trust-wide delivery of the nurse strategy as a whole.
  • Support the Chief Nursing Officer with the delivery of a wider corporate nursing and quality agenda.
