Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of statutory and financial statements for the UK and Irish entities.
  • Act as the primary contact for auditors in the UK and Ireland.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies for operational efficiency.
  • Lead balance sheet reconciliation and financial close reviews.

Skills

Divisional Financial Controller - Contract - Inside IR35 - London - Hybrid

Lorien is currently recruiting for a Divisional Financial Controller, to join our client on a 6-month contract and play a key role in leading all financial reporting, statutory accounting, and compliance activities across our client's UK and Irish entities. This includes full ownership of statutory financial statements, balance sheet integrity, audit management, and adherence to Group accounting policies under IFRS and UK GAAP.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Statutory Accounts
  • Lead the preparation of accurate and timely statutory and financial statements for the UK and Irish entities, including disclosures and supporting documents.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP, and Irish GAAP and company law requirements.
  • Oversee statutory account preparation for two of largest Companies in the Group and smaller entities in Ireland ensuring reconciliations and documentation are complete and reviewed.
Audit & Compliance
  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors in the UK and Ireland.
  • Ensure audit readiness, maintaining clear audit trails and timely responses to audit queries.
  • Oversee the maintenance and documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Accounting Policies and Procedures
  • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency, consistency and compliance across the Group.
  • Resolve complex accounting issues and provide guidance on topics such as revenue recognition, consolidation, leases, and impairment.
  • Provide technical input for new business initiatives and regulatory changes.
Financial Control & Analysis
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial records supported by a robust internal control environment.
  • Lead the balance sheet reconciliation process, reviewing and signing off reconciliations across entities.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly close reviews, analysing variances and key movements.
Business Partnering
  • Build strong relationships with Divisional Finance teams, FP&A, Group Tax, Treasury, and Company Secretariat and Shared Service Centre based in offshore.
People Leadership
  • Manage and develop a team of 5 providing mentoring, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
What We're Looking For
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
  • Proven post-qualification experience in financial accounting, year-end, audit, and statutory reporting (preferably within a complex or listed environment).
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP.
  • Experience of working on a Group level.
