The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Distribution Team Leader in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. The main purpose of the role is to plan and co‑ordinate the transport function in a safe, legal complaint and cost effective manner. A focus to maintain excellent customer service standards and ensure compliance with all relevant legislations and company standards concerning vehicles and drivers.

Your Responsibilities
  • Initially reporting to the Transport Supervisor the main duties of the role will include:
  • Maintaining compliance with Safety and Health in the workplace.
  • Comply with documented Safety and Health responsibilities.
  • Comply with all legal requirements of Operator Licensing.
  • Maintain ADM defined distributions standards.
  • Plan vehicle and staff resource in the most cost effective manner.
  • Manage driver and vehicle standards and performance.
  • Ensure responsible cost control.
  • Manage fleet appearance and vehicle compliance checks.
Your Profile
  • A strong commitment to managing safety within the workplace.
  • A good level of PC literacy (including Microsoft Office suite, Enterprise and experience of distribution information systems)
  • An effective team worker and communicator with the ability to work in a FMCG environment.
  • Excellent customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise while problem solving with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and motivate people.
  • A Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage Operations or willingness to study towards one.
  • Safety qualification of IOSH or NEBOSH is desirable or willingness to study towards one.
  • Educated to GCSE level 2 Grades 4-9 or NVQ / SVQ equivalent.
  • Experience of a distribution, logistics or supply chain environment.
