The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Director to play a pivotal role in driving the growth of our client across the UK and Ireland. This is a new role and offers the opportunity to work at senior management level, shaping the business development strategy while developing long-term client partnerships.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives and has experience in a professional services environment, selling consultancy services, and enjoys building trusted relationships over a longer sales cycle across the utilities and infrastructure sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a deep understanding of the organisation's consultancy services and clearly articulate the value to clients
  • Identify, generate and convert new business opportunities while growing existing client relationships
  • Manage the full sales lifecycle, from initial engagement through to deal closure and long-term account development
  • Build and maintain strong networks across the utilities and infrastructure sectors
  • Listen to client needs, challenges and objectives, and design tailored consultancy solutions
  • Creatively manage and grow key business accounts
  • Produce and manage a robust business forecast aligned with company requirements
  • Contribute to the strategic growth of the company across the UK and Ireland
  • Work collaboratively with marketing and bid/tender teams to support proposals and pitches
About You

You will be an outgoing, ambitious and self-motivated individual, comfortable working on your own initiative while contributing ideas at management level. You will be resilient, patient and open to learning, with a strong belief in strategic planning and relationship-led business development.

Skills and Experience
  • Experience at selling to board c-suite level clients
  • Proven track record of delivering against sales targets and managing client accounts
  • Experience selling consultancy or professional services (not products)
  • Background in utilities, infrastructure, construction or capital projects is highly desirable
  • Experience selling consultancy and or professional services to defined markets
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Confident communicator with a professional social media presence
  • Experience working in target-driven organisations and using sales performance metrics
