Job summary

A leading Governing body in the UK is seeking a Digital Service Designer to drive service design initiatives. You will understand user needs, create user journeys, and work quickly within an agile environment. The ideal candidate has previous experience with government projects and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders. You will develop propositions that align with policy intentions, prototype services, and conduct usability testing. This role requires eligibility for BPSS.

Qualifications

  • Must have previous GOV experience.
  • Eligible for BPSS.
  • Ability to sketch and prototype on paper and in HTML.

My client, a leading Governing body is actively recruiting for a Digital Service Designer. As the lead for the Service Discovery phase you will drive a team to understand the current trade space and propose a Single Trade Window solution that learns from global examples while tailoring a solution to our specific UK needs.

We are looking for someone who has previous GOV experience.

Role and responsibilities
  • Understanding user needs and creating user journeys that help people successfully navigate complex systems
  • Identifying where separate interactions should act as one service and design rational user journeys within that service, as well as commonalities in activities across services that create opportunities for product development
  • Developing future service propositions that deliver on policy intentions
  • Helping to plan user research and usability testing, observing sessions, and helping to analyse the results of user research
  • Mapping current service journeys and creating blueprints for improved and/or new services
  • Creating and rapidly iterating service prototypes
  • Identifying and design service patterns and standards
  • Identifying the right ways to measure service success
  • Building collaborative relationships with stakeholders, across teams and service domains
  • Defining and conducting excellent stakeholder engagement
  • Being a knowledge expert in service design
  • Participate in thought leadership - introduce ideas and approaches to the broader team
  • Understand user needs and identify where separate interactions with government should act as one service that meet that need
  • Arrange these separate interactions into rational user journeys within that service
  • Be able to sketch and prototype on paper and in HTML
  • Be able to work quickly in an agile environment
  • Be able to explain ideas in a way that other people understand
  • Explain design decisions and be able to represent a service at a service assessment
  • Assess a service and give constructive feedback
  • Put forward the case for design with a product manager
  • Collaborate on designs with a developer
