Job description

We operate more than 400 diverse, peer-reviewed, open access journals supported by over 35,500 academic editors. We serve scholars from around the world to ensure the latest research is openly and broadly available.

The Digital Marketing Specialist will work within our global corporate communications team and is responsible for developing and implementing a range of paid marketing strategies to support a portfolio of journals. Demonstrable experience of delivering first class paid digital marketing strategies across multiple channels is preferable.

Location : Manchester

This is a full-time in office role. The office is located next to Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester.

Main tasks and responsibilities
  • Implement the paid social media strategy for a portfolio of key brands
  • Implement the digital marketing strategy for a portfolio of key brands
  • Support the development and implementation of always on campaigns
  • Support the development and implementation of major campaigns
  • Provide support to others across the business on digital marketing best practice
  • Monitor and report on individual campaign performance
  • Participate relevant team meetings on key topics related to workload
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with portfolio and others across the business
  • Support key corporate campaigns, projects and platforms
  • Population of weekly content calendar.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Academic degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or Advertising (or related).
  • Over 1 year of experience coordinating digital marketing activities for business.
  • Good knowledge of key social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram. Knowledge of other channels is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Facebook Ads Manager. Knowledge of other Ad Managers a plus.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing tools such as Hootsuite, Falcon and Sprout OR Google Suite (GA4, Tag Manager, Search Consol) and data visualisation tools.
  • Understanding of brand, communication, and digital marketing principles.
  • Excellent English language skills (written and spoken); other language skills are beneficial.
  • Good organizational, analytical and prioritization abilities.
  • Interest in science and science communications.
