Job description
Overview

Part-time - 22.5 hours/week. Band 7, Diabetes Specialist Dietitian required to work alongside our part-time Diabetes Specialist Dietitian within the Intermediate Diabetes services team. Clinic setting includes one-to-one, face-to-face, virtual, and group sessions. Travel within Bromley borough to nursing homes and patient homes; car driver not essential but travel around the borough is expected.

Responsible for delivering a high-quality, evidence-based service to patients, including specialist expertise for: type 1 diabetes requiring insulin dose adjustment, pump support, and self-management skills; type 2 diabetes and pre-conception diabetic patients. Education to patients via DAFNE & DESMOND programmes. Team includes specialist nurses, dietitians, consultants; close collaboration with podiatry service.

Proposed Interview Date: 30th September 2025.

Main duties of the job
  • Act as an expert resource, providing clinical advice and support to others involved in providing care for people with diabetes in primary care and community settings.
  • Provide specialist nutrition and dietetic advice as part of a specialist multidisciplinary diabetes team for people with diabetes and healthcare providers working in primary care and the community.
  • Work as an independent practitioner and demonstrate specialist skills and knowledge through expert dietetic practice and diabetes care.
  • Manage and prioritise a varied patient caseload including patients with complex needs in settings such as primary care, out-patient clinics, patients' homes, and nursing homes.
  • Provide complex nutrition and dietetic advice, education and support for people with diabetes and their carers, including patients with associated medical problems (e.g., obesity, hyperlipidaemia, renal disease, swallowing difficulties, enteral feeding).
