About this opportunity

This is an opportunity to join the Built Environment Team, a team that is committed to finding creative but feasible solutions for the public sector, centred on the unlocking and bringing forward of challenging and complex-built environment projects. The Built Environment Team has a number of Local Authority and private sector clients appointed to deliver projects with a range of outputs, including residential, commercial, retail and leisure uses including infrastructure and public realm.

The Built Environment Team is currently made up of one Director, two Senior Development Managers, two Assistant Development Managers and two Graduates. We are currently expanding the team across Manchester and Leeds offices to support the continued growth of the service line.

We\'re seeking a Development Manager to join the growing team to provide support in the delivery of projects in this fast paced dynamic team that is successfully delivering a programme of multi-million pound developments.

The ideal candidate would be energetic, committed and willing to support the wider team to complete identified work streams within a wider work programme. Strong communication skills are necessary with co-ordinated organised approach to delivery of tasks alongside the ability to work independently and think outside the box.

Responsibilities
  • To assist with the development and implementation of individual regeneration projects & initiatives and their integration and co-ordination within wider regeneration strategies.
  • To develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders and partners such as Local Authorities and other key parties as identified by the Client which may include TfGM, Department for Transport, Network Rail, Homes England.
  • Coordination of multi-disciplinary teams (internal and external) including preparation of required scope/s of services and management of procurement processes.
  • Create and execute project work plans and prepare information and reports for meetings with a variety of audiences.
  • Ensure project set up in line with internal Gleeds OA requirements.
  • To monitor project budgets, help to prepare bids for services across a range of opportunities and support the Built Environment Team wider Business Development Strategy
  • Reviewing and analysis of other technical inputs which are pertinent to the project appointed on.
  • Assist in the development of reports to committees, business cases, external funding bids and Project Initiation Documents.
  • Effectively communicate information, project updates & expectations to team members & stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion, including the delivery of engaging and informative presentations.
  • Delivering high quality services and deliverables in accordance with the business procedures.
  • Developing a professional network in order to maintain a high profile for Gleeds and to generate new business.

Who we’re looking for:

Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills

  • A relevant degree qualification or equivalent (or >5 years’ suitable experience within a similar role)
  • Relevant experience of working on a project in a responsible role e.g. employer’s representative, project manager or project team member
  • A clear understanding of regeneration issues and related policy fields in the areas of physical development, regeneration and project delivery application.
  • An understanding of the development process: planning, development appraisals, policy context, funding and legal aspects of delivering development.
  • Experience of effective engagement with key stakeholders such as the public, local Councillors, property owners, investors, grant funders
  • Knowledge and some experience in commissioning external consultants and contractors, including a demonstrable understanding of public procurement regulations.
  • Understand basic budget monitoring involved in project development and delivery.
  • Local Authority processes (desired but not essential).

Qualifications
