Job description
  • Support land and development teams during feasibility studies, contributing engineering input and preparing viability information
  • Appoint and manage external engineering, utilities and technical consultants, agreeing scope, fees and programme requirements
  • Coordinate engineering design information and ensure timely flow of data in line with programme deadlines and standards
  • Assist in planning processes by identifying technical risks, supporting conditions discharge and reviewing regulatory requirements
  • Provide technical guidance on highways, drainage, sewers, utilities and ground strategies, ensuring commercial and regulatory requirements are met
  • Support the preparation of tender documentation and assist in setting up management companies where applicable
  • Manage the progression of roads, sewers and utilities through to adoption with local authorities and statutory providers
  • Attend site regularly, offering engineering support and leading technical discussions related to infrastructure delivery
  • Interact with internal teams, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and warranty provider requirements
Requirements of the Engineer:
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, Technical Design or related discipline
  • Experience within residential housebuilding or civil engineering roles
  • Strong knowledge of highways, drainage, utilities, groundworks and relevant design standards (e.g. Sewers for Adoption, Building Regs, British Standards)
  • Working proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of planning and technical processes
  • Knowledge of NHBC/LABC/SBD requirements
  • Full UK driving licence
