Design & Technology Teacher – Barnsley
Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Salary: £140 – £190 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Easter Term 2025

Are you a passionate Design & Technology Teacher ready to motivate the next generation of creators, engineers, and innovators? GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and skilled Design & Technology Teacher to join a vibrant secondary school in Barnsley from Easter Term 2025.

This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who are eager to inspire students and help them develop hands-on technical skills, problem-solving ability, and creativity through engaging practical lessons.

About the Role

As a Design & Technology Teacher, you will deliver engaging and interactive lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, supporting students in a range of D&T disciplines. You will guide pupils through both theoretical and practical projects, ensuring they gain confidence in design thinking, craftsmanship, and innovation.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Design & Technology up to GCSE level, inspiring students of all abilities.
  • Deliver creative and practical lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Support pupils in developing design, problem-solving, and technical skills.
  • Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations.
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and stimulating workshop environment.
  • Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum development, and school projects.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Specialism in Design & Technology or a related discipline (e.g. Resistant Materials, Graphics, Product Design, Engineering).
  • Experience teaching D&T at secondary level (GCSE desirable).
  • Strong subject knowledge with enthusiasm for hands-on learning.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A ten-year career history with references covering the past two years, including your most recent role.
