A leading design and manufacturing company is seeking a Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis in East Sussex. The role involves developing new concepts, modeling parts with CAD software, and producing design proposals. Candidates should have a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields, along with proficiency in SolidWorks. This position offers a salary range of £27,000 - £34,000 per annum.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
  • 1-2 years' experience in a design role or relevant placement.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Experience with rendering software like Keyshot is a plus.
  • Strong technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering and product development teams.
  • Model parts using SolidWorks CAD software and Keyshot.
  • Develop new concepts and turn them into finished products.
  • Produce design proposals matching the project brief.
  • Ensure manufacturing data is included in all drawings.

Overview

My client works within design and manufacturing and they are looking to take on a Design Engineer on a permanent basis in the East Sussex area.

Qualifications
  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Design or similar
  • Ideally 1-2 years' experience or more in the industry or placement experience may also be considered working in a similar Design Engineer position
  • Proficiency with CAD software - ideally SolidWorks but open to others
  • Any experience using rendering software like Keyshot would be advantageous but not essential
  • Have good technical/engineering knowledge and experience
  • Be able to work well individually as well as part of a team
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Good knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and furniture/timber design would be beneficial
  • Time management skills
Responsibilities
  • Work within the engineering and product development teams on projects
  • Model parts using SolidWorks CAD software and using Keyshot
  • Develop new concepts
  • Take these concepts to finished products
  • Produce design proposals and engineered solutions to match the brief
  • Ensure all drawings contain the relevant manufacturing data (BOMs)
