Job description

We are looking for a Design Engineer to join the Quickflange team, based in Carnforth.

The Design Engineer will provide engineering support primarily to the Quickflange business unit. The main purpose of the role is to perform engineering design using Computer Aided Design (CAD) packages for Quickflange components.

This role will report to the Engineering Technical Authority – Quickflange.

The main tasks include, but are not limited to:
  • To perform 3D CAD using SolidWorks to create parts, assemblies, and drawings.
  • To liaise with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to help manage the manufacture of components.
  • To ensure all drawings, documents and calculations are filed according to ICR procedures.
  • Checking of calculations, designs & manufacturing drawings.
  • Project management of allocated work.
  • Develop procedures for, perform, and record workshop Factory Acceptance Testing.
  • To investigate non-conformances relating to any quality or safety issues.
  • Technical support for sales in reviewing new scope of works and authorising correct supply of equipment for all locations.
  • Producing procedures relating to the operation, maintenance, and handling of Quickflange products.
  • Provide engineering support for other business units within the ICR group when required.
Key Skills, Attributes and Experience:
  • HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline is an advantage but not essential (HNC acceptable with relevant experience).
  • Previous relevant engineering experience.
  • Extensive use of 3D modelling software (ideally SolidWorks).
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve, multitask and work to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Self-starter that takes a collaborative approach and really enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and self-manage own workload.
  • Sets high standards in quality of work and excellent attention to detail.
