Deputy SENCO - Secondary School - Perry Barr (B42)

Location: Perry Barr, Birmingham (B42)
Pay: 120 - 135 per day (PAYE - no umbrella deductions)
Contract: Full-Time Long-Term

Long Term Futures is working with a thriving secondary school in Perry Barr to recruit a proactive Deputy SENCO. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is passionate about driving inclusive practice and ensuring students with additional needs receive the support they deserve.

About the Role

As Deputy SENCO, you\'ll work closely with the SENCO to lead SEND provision across the school. You\'ll help shape and deliver strategies that support students academically, socially, and emotionally, while also ensuring compliance with SEND legislation and best practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deputise for the SENCO to oversee the day-to-day running of the SEN department
  • Lead annual EHCP reviews, ensuring paperwork is accurate and up to date
  • Write and review SEN support plans tailored to student needs
  • Submit requests for EHCP assessments and liaise with local authorities
  • Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external agencies
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to ensure inclusive classroom practice
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience leading or supporting in a SEND role (Deputy SENCO, SENCO, or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of EHCP processes, reviews, and SEN legislation
  • Experience supporting secondary-aged students with a range of additional needs
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confident communicator who can build positive relationships with colleagues and external professionals
