Our client, a major player in the digital magazine, B2B space and a leader of publications within niche industries is looking to recruit a Production Editor for one of their flagship weekly publications.

The Deputy Production Editor will form part of their tight-knit editorial team, and lead on the weekly print content (including making changes to print and digital layout) and help to produce daily digital content. This will include subediting, fact-checking, design and layout for both digital and print, as well as curation of daily newsletters.

You will help set the tone for how this leading magazine looks and feels as the UK’s leading, trusted source of specialist intelligence.

You will help to set the highest standards for the accuracy and quality of the print content, working with the production & engagement editor to ensure the publication is thought-provoking, intelligent and fair. Working with reporters on improving their copy, assisting the editor and head of content and suggesting innovative ways for the publication to keep improving how it presents its data-led journalism. You will lead on a weekly magazine print production and design layouts.

Being able to translate what could be tricky data into clear accessible information, graphic and layout, as well as an interest in B2B publications would be ideal.

This role does not include line management responsibility, but you would be expected to deputise for the head of production where appropriate. Applicants should have a minimum of two years’ experience in a sub-editing or production role.

You will need:

  • Knowledge and experience of InDesign and Photoshop
  • Around 2 years’ experience in a sub-editing or production editing role
  • An interest and experience in magazine design/layout work
  • Knowledge of using a CMS
  • Knowledge of other Adobe software (Illustrator) ideal
  • Experience on a business title is not required, but would be a bonus

This is an ideal role for an ambitious individual who is able to translate sometimes tricky industry content into accessible data, graphics and layout.
