A local GP practice in Carmarthen seeks a Deputy Practice Manager to support day-to-day operations. You will supervise staff, ensure compliance with patient care standards, and assist with practice finances. Ideal candidates will possess strong organisational and leadership skills, along with qualifications in healthcare management or business administration. The Assistant Practice Manager will support the Practice Manager at Furnace House Surgery in the day to day management and smooth running of the GP surgery. The role involves overseeing administrative systems, supporting staff, ensuring high standards of patient care, and assisting with compliance, finance, and operational performance within the practice.
The Assistant Practice Manager will support the daily operational management of the GP surgery.
Ensure efficient patient services, appointment systems, and workflows.
Assist in maintaining policies, procedures, and standard operating processes.
Support compliance with GMS contractual requirements.

Assist with supervision and support of reception, admin, and secretarial staff. Support staff training, rotas, appraisals, and induction of new team members. Promote effective teamwork and a patient-focused culture. Handle routine staff issues and escalate appropriately.
Ensure high standards of patient care and customer service. Support management of patient complaints in line with NHS procedures. Act as a point of contact for patient queries and concerns. Ensure confidentiality and data protection are maintained at all times.
Assist with practice finances including claims, invoicing, and payment processing. Support QOF, Enhanced Services, and PCN-related reporting and submissions. Assist with monitoring budgets, expenditure, and supplier contracts. Oversee stock control and ordering of supplies.
Support effective use of clinical and administrative systems such as EMIS. Assist with data quality, reporting, and audits. Ensure compliance with GDPR and information governance requirements.
Deputise for the Practice Manager when required. Assist with service development, quality improvement, and change management. Support meetings, prepare reports, and take minutes when required
