Qualifications

Position Overview

As the SEND Deputy Headteacher, you will play a key role in supporting the Headteacher in leading the school’s vision, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education and care for pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). You will oversee daily operations, promote inclusive practices, and work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to enhance pupil outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the leadership and management of the school, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment
  • Lead curriculum planning tailored to pupils with SLD
  • Mentor and support teaching staff and support staff
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning
  • Foster strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals
  • Ensure compliance with all safeguarding and health & safety policies
  • Contribute to strategic planning and school development initiatives
Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience inaiste SEND, particularly with pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties
  • Previous leadership experience or experience working in a Deputy Head or senior leadership role within SEND settings
  • Strong understanding of the SEMH/SEND curriculum and statutory frameworks
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and AUTHL Skills
  • Passionate about inclusive education and pupil wellbeing
