Job summary

A recruitment agency is searching for a Deputy CEO to support leadership and operational management across multiple sites. This role involves overseeing projects and ensuring compliance with safeguarding and health standards, along with mentoring management teams. The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills and experience in project management, ideally in the educational or charity sector. Flexibility for working during school holidays and traveling to regional sites is required.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with safeguarding responsibilities and compliance.
  • Ability to evaluate projects and report to Trustees.

Deputy CEO

Location: Hybrid - Some time at our client's office in Chopwell; Visits to their various regional woodland sites; Some home working

Reports to: CEO

Hours of work: 35 hours per week (one FTE)

Remuneration: TBD

Our client is seeking an organised, people‑focused leader to support their quality, growth and sustainability. The Deputy CEO will work closely with the CEO to oversee projects, people, safeguarding, governance and business performance, ensuring high‑quality Forest School provision across their sites. Some work during school holidays is essential.

Key Duties
  • Lead delivery of projects aligned with our client's mission and values.
  • Oversee risk management, safeguarding, health and safety, and staff wellbeing.
  • Support financial performance, fundraising and organisational sustainability.
  • Develop and support Managers, teams and training.
  • Maintain policies, compliance and organisational memberships.
  • Lead evaluation, impact reporting and reporting to Trustees.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong project and business management experience.
  • Understanding of neurodivergence.
  • Ability to work in school holidays and travel across their regional sites.
  • Commitment to their mission and values.

Desirable experience includes Ofsted, Charity Sector work, Designated Safeguarding Lead responsibilities, and working with children and young people.
