Depot General Manager

Salary : £50,000 – £55,000 (DOE)

Bonus : Performance Related - Up to 30% of annual salary

Hours : 45 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 7 : 30am–5 : 00pm)

Contract : Permanent (following 6-month probation)

Location : Woking, Surrey

Overview of Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all operational activities within the depot
• Oversee servicing, repairs, logistics, and equipment delivery
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
• Maintain high customer service standards and strong client relationships
• Plan and control budgets, operational efficiency, and depot performance
• Support and develop the depot team across all functions
• Work collaboratively with national sales and operational teams to drive growth

Required Experience and Skills

• Proven depot or operational management experience within the Plant Hire industry
• Strong technical understanding of plant equipment and machinery
• Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a multidisciplinary team
• Sound knowledge of logistics, scheduling, and depot operations
• Strong customer service skills with a commercial mindset
• Competent in budgeting, forecasting, and depot performance management
• Familiarity with hire management systems and relevant IT tools
• Ability to work under pressure, solve problems quickly, and adapt to business needs
