An exciting opportunity has arisen for a well-motivated, enthusiastic and suitably qualified IT Lead to work within our Microbiology and Virology Department. The successful candidate will support the Department by ensuring appropriate IT systems are available for use. They will work under the direction of the Integrated Laboratory Medicine IT Manager and the Microbiology and Virology Operational Site Managers.

Coordinate, manage, maintain and implement information technology (IT) throughout the Directorate of Integrated Laboratory Medicine through a system of named individuals with responsibility for IT. The post-holder will be assigned a base Department but will be expected to provide cover for other Departments within the Directorate on occasions. Ensure all work is performed strictly in accordance with the Trusts IM&T Policy and Procedures. Work closely with the Trust IT Department and the Directorate IT management team on such issues as APEX problem resolution, system development, linking systems between Trusts e.g. NPEX, Pathosys, telepathology, video conferencing, Order Communications and results reporting. The post holder will be expected to fulfil the Departments IT input into these collaborative ventures. As part of the Directorate IT Team, maintain and develop close, collaborative working relationships with the Trusts IM&T Department. Support the respective Laboratory Manager with Departmental Information Governance, including the Information Asset Register and IT Risk Assessment. Oversee the Directorate aspect of the IT Helpdesk to track IT service requests. May be required to provide out of hours support during IT downtime to meet service needs. Ensure the risk of infection to yourself, colleagues, patients, relatives and visitors is minimised by o being familiar with, and adhering to Trust policies and guidance on infection prevention and controlo attending Trust Induction Programme(s) and statutory educationprogrammes in infection prevention and controlo including infection prevention and control as an integral part of your continuous personal/professional developmento taking personal responsibility so far as is reasonably practicable, in helping ensure that effective prevention and control of health care acquired infections is embedded into everyday practice and applied consistently by you and your colleagues
