Job description
Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic and conscientious dentists with good interpersonal and clinical skills to join the Community Dental Service in Bury. This part-time post requires working across other clinical sites in Greater Manchester as needed, with excellent nursing support and a commitment to a high standard of oral health care.

Note: This advert is for one part-time post: 1 x 22.5 hours/week.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a high standard of dental care for patients who are unable to receive care in a general dental practice, including patients with disabilities and children requiring inhalation sedation or general anaesthesia.
  • Work as part of a team and adhere to department and professional standards/protocols; participate in audits and peer review as required.
  • Provide domiciliary dental care for housebound patients and dental care in hospital under general anaesthesia when needed.
  • Support the Head of Dental Services to maintain health, safety, and security within the department; report risks and take appropriate action.
  • Complete FP17 forms and determine treatment banding; manage patient charges and report bad debts as required.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery or equivalent; full registration with the General Dental Council.
  • Experience in providing dental care to priority groups (children, people with disabilities, elderly, and those needing sedation where applicable).
  • Desirable: postgraduate qualification; certificate/diploma in conscious sedation or equivalent; experience in sedation/GA, domiciliary care, or epidemiological fieldwork.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Provision of all aspects of routine dental care; good verbal and written communication; strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage own workload and work effectively in a large team; knowledge of FP17s, treatment banding, and patient charges.
  • Basic IT skills and experience with electronic dental records systems.
  • Desirable: experience of general anaesthesia or domiciliary dentistry; Dentally software knowledge.
Requirements and Terms
  • Location: Moorgate PCC, Derby Way, Bury, BL9 0NJ, with may cross-site work in Greater Manchester.
  • Salary: £52,532 to £78,798 per year; Permanent contract; Part-time, flexible working.
  • Other: Flexible working considered; sponsorship and UK Visa status per policy; UK registration required.
