The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Defendant Personal Injury Litigator to join a leading team in Bradford. The role offers exposure to a varied caseload of high-quality defendant matters, with a particular focus on employers' liability (EL) and public liability (PL) claims, often within the retail sector.

This position is ideal for a litigator with a solid grounding in defendant PI work who is seeking responsibility, client contact, and the chance to develop their career in a supportive and dynamic environment.

The Role

As a Defendant PI Litigator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a caseload of EL and PL matters, from instruction through to resolution.
  • Handling a range of fast-track claims and progressing files through all stages of litigation.
  • Advising clients on liability, quantum, and strategy, while providing clear and practical guidance.
  • Drafting pleadings, witness statements, and other legal documents.
  • Negotiating settlements and attending hearings where required.
  • Liaising with clients, witnesses, experts, and counsel to ensure cases progress efficiently.
  • Working to strict deadlines while maintaining accuracy and client service standards.
About You

We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate:

  • At least 2 years' experience handling defendant PI claims, ideally with a focus on EL/PL.
  • Strong technical knowledge of personal injury law and the litigation process.
  • Experience of litigating claims within the retail sector (desirable but not essential).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and deliver results within tight deadlines.
