Job title: Day Technician

Trust: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust

Location: Queens Medical Centre, Derby Road, Nottingham, NG7 2UH

Hours: Monday - Friday - 8.00am - 4.00pm

Pay: Band 5 - £18.66ph

We are looking for a Day Technician/Maintenance Assistant (with Mechanical bias) to join our friendly team at QMC Hospital. You will undertake general maintenance duties, in line with Trust policies and procedures. You must be willing to work on a variety of tasks. Undertake maintenance activities within an acute hospital setting in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsibilities
  • Test, diagnose and repair faults on engineering and/or electrical and plumbing installations, plant and equipment, to deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others.
  • Carry out repairs, maintain and efficiently run plant and equipment.
  • Use all relevant tools and equipment.
  • Record accurately all data in connection with PPM, labour management and other management data systems.
  • Carry out specialist installations and repairs on power, lighting, nurse call, fire alarms and intruder alarms, including any programming that may be required and passing on operational instructions to ward or department staff.
  • To be conversant with domestic hot water, mains cold water, plumbing, high temperature hot water heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and steam heating systems.
  • To be fully conversant with all types of pumps, circulation systems, belt drives, pulleys and direct drive systems.
Personal Specifications
  • Maintenance experience (with electrical bias) advantageous.
  • Comfortable using hand tools.
  • Happy working in all weathers.
