The role

We are looking to hire a Data Analyst (Food & Drink) to join our Data team in London.

This is an office-based role out of our London office.

Role overview

We are looking for a strategic, intelligent and commercial individual to provide world-class data analysis for the growing Food & Drink category. The Data Analyst must have an understanding of Food & Drink and data analysis, and use this to underpin the work that the Content team delivers. The role involves analysing data and aiding in the generation of breakthrough insight and trends for the different products we produce, working with both WGSN’s and IWSR’s, as well as third‑party data sets, to spot underlying signals.

Key accountabilities
  • Provide high quality and accurate analysis for WGSN’s content, focused on Food & Drink, Sustainability, and Consumer insights, key trends and drivers.
  • Offer editors insight on past and future trends, and identify growth opportunities.
  • Extract business intelligence from large data sets and create compelling narratives.
  • Conduct research and deliver analysis with actionable recommendations for clients.
  • Proactively suggest and generate visualisations (charts/tables) for complex data.
  • Collaborate with data teams across territories to ensure consistency of analysis between WGSN and IWSR.
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing between WGSN and IWSR.
  • Contribute to the creation, sharing, and learning culture for the global Editorial team.
  • Engage and collaborate with key business stakeholders and data teams.
  • Be proactive in documenting processes, capturing tasks in Jira, and delivering reusable code and datasets.
  • Be accountable for personal objectives and designated KPIs, meeting deadlines and editorial guidelines.
  • Take an active and vocal role in team meetings, suggesting new ideas for data integration.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in brief, insightful, commercially successful, and with data integrity.
  • Work closely with the Sustainability Board, providing data analyses for regular bulletins.

Skills, experience & qualifications required
  • Ability to explain data clearly and concisely, telling a compelling story.
  • Experience in the food & drink industry is essential.
  • Experience in sustainability and working with beverage depletion/shipment data is a strong advantage.
  • At least 2–3 years of prior experience in a data analyst role.
  • Creative, commercial, resourceful, innovative & able to cope under pressure.
  • Ability to analyse large amounts of data and pinpoint trends that will impact the market.
  • Problem solver who gets things done.
  • Analytical mind that can distinguish what is important and make the complex simple.
  • Curious, flexible and a strategic thinker with gravitas.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable tackling work within a global team.
Technical experience with
  • Data Warehouses (multiple): Snowflake, SQL, BigQuery, DataBricks, etc.
  • Languages: SQL (must), Python (must), dbt (desirable), etc.
  • Version control: git (GitHub).
  • AI coding tools: Codex (ChatGPT), Co-pilot, Cursor, etc.
  • Visualisation: Tableau, Looker, Power BI, etc.
Beneficial to have experience with
  • Statistical modelling / forecasting (Regression, DOE, A/B Testing).
  • Sprint Planning/Development using JIRA.
  • Unit testing and data quality monitoring.
