THE EMPLOYER IS: THE GREEN EAST LTDThe Customer Sales Assistant plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional service and creating a welcoming atmosphere for every visitor. As a key member of our sales team, you will assist customers in selecting the right indoor plants, pots, and accessories to suit their space and lifestyle. You’ll provide advice on plant care, maintenance, and styling while completing accurate transactions through the POS system.In this role, you’ll also help maintain our plant displays, monitor stock levels, and support merchandising to keep the store vibrant and inviting. Your enthusiasm for greenery, attention to detail, and approachable attitude will help ensure each customer enjoys a positive and memorable shopping experience that reflects our passion for sustainable, plant-filled spaces.We're looking for friendly individuals with strong communication skills and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service in a indoor gardening environment. Responsibilities
  • Greeting and assisting customers with up to date product knowledge on plant selections to meet their requirements and provide suitable plant care advice.
  • Stocking shelves and contributing to store cleanliness.
  • Plant care of our large selection of indoor plants on and off site as required.
  • Maintaining stock database and ensuring onsite stock rotation to help prevent stock wastage.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong listening and communication skills to understand customer needs and recommend suitable plants or products.
  • Ability to handle questions and resolve issues calmly and effectively.
  • Basic understanding of indoor plant care (watering, lighting).
  • Ability to upsell or suggest complementary items (e.g., matching planters, care products).
  • Experience using a POS or till system to process transactions accurately.
  • Confidence handling cash, card payments, and receipts.
  • Previous experience working with indoor plants, gardening, or horticulture.
  • Ability to identify common plant species and diagnose basic plant health issues (watering, pests, lighting).
  • Interest in sustainable or biophilic design principles.
  • Experience creating eye-catching plant and pot displays.
  • Understanding of colour, texture, and balance in visual merchandising.
  • Ability to maintain and refresh retail layouts to reflect seasonal trends.
