We are seeking a dynamic and versatile lawyer to join our innovative Legal team.

As a Cross-Practice Advisory Lawyer – Vice President within the ICB Legal team , you will support the ICB across all practice areas and corporate activity. This unique role is designed for a proactive legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to engage in a wide array of projects, strategic growth initiatives, and business-as-usual (BAU) activities across all practice areas within our retail consumer line of business. Unlike traditional roles, this position is not aligned to a specific product, offering the opportunity to work collaboratively across diverse legal disciplines. You will be a solution-oriented Lawyer, able to process and synthesize large volumes of technical information for senior business stakeholders. You will be used to working in an agile environment and passionate about supporting an innovative and growing business as part of a diverse and inclusive team.

Job responsibilities

  • Coordinate and proactively drive forward legal support for retail banking projects and products, across different practice areas, including payments, lending and investments, ensuring compliance with legal standards and contributing to successful project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address legal challenges in strategic growth initiatives, providing innovative solutions and legal insights to drive business objectives.
  • Provide legal expertise and support for day-to-day operations across all practice areas, ensuring smooth and compliant business processes.
  • Serve as a legal trouble-shooter, identifying potential legal issues and risks, and working with senior management to develop effective strategies to mitigate them.
  • Work closely with teams and stakeholders in the wider JPMC organisation, fostering strong relationships and ensuring alignment of legal strategies with business goals.
  • Stay abreast of legal developments and industry trends, continuously enhancing legal processes and practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • UK or other European qualified lawyer, with at least 5 years post-qualification experience in a top law firm and/or in-house financial services Legal team
  • Broad knowledge of law and regulations governing the provision of banking and investment products and services
  • Quality product, technical, legal and other risk awareness skills and an ability to work across a broad set of products and services
  • Strong knowledge of the UK and / or European supervisory regimes for authorised credit institutions and investment firms
  • Ability to quickly familiarise and advise authoritatively on new regulatory developments as they emerge.
