The Opportunity

The Country & Credit Risk Management team (“CCRM”) are not just unique within our industry but we are at the very heart of the business model and in helping to develop business objectives and strategies.

Our Political Risk & Credit team currently operates with around 56 staff located in offices in London, Hamburg, New York, Chicago, Washington, Los Angeles, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Singapore and Japan. The group underwrite risks in approximately 170 countries. The emphasis is on Underwriting Profit not Gross Premium and on maintaining a sustainable business model, not on quick wins. The business has a wide range of blue‑chip clients across a broad variety of industries and we are recognised globally as a market leader in this space.

You will be part of a dedicated team of highly skilled and experienced risk analysts working very closely with all of the business unit leadership which includes the Chief Underwriting Officer, Head of Trade Credit as well as the regional leadership in Brazil, Singapore and the USA. Your opinions and views will be expected and respected.

You will be responsible for reviewing the credit worthiness of companies globally but with a primary focus on the EMEA region. As part of the CCRM you will work in partnership with our underwriters to recommend and approve credit limits for our clients. The role encompasses financial, sector and country risk analysis all in relation to short‑term trade exposures.

Core Product applications include but are not limited to:

  • Open Account Credit, Trade Finance, Supply Chain and Receivables financing
  • Working capital term loans and revolving credit lines
  • Asset backed and Project Finance
  • Balance Sheet and cash flow protection from credit losses

The core perils for which protection is provided are:

  • Payment default, insolvency and bankruptcy
Key Responsibilities
Credit Analysis
  • Recommendation of credit limits for large and medium‑size corporates incorporating financial statement analysis and a discussion of other relevant factors in support of each recommendation.
Credit Monitoring
  • Keen interest and ability to follow relevant news flow which may impact the credit risk portfolio. Experience with automating news alerts and/or handling large datasets on behalf of a team would be a plus.
Compliance
  • A thorough and diligent approach to recording and maintaining accurate information in Chubb’s systems, including keeping records of all credit decisions and correspondence.
Risk Presentations
  • Presenting risks internally to Chubb’s underwriters and/or credit committee as appropriate, either in written or oral form.
  • Delivering credit training presentations to more junior analysts within the team, if applicable.
Qualifications

Skills & Experience required:

Essential:
  • At least 3 years’ experience in credit analysis
  • Financial analytical skills with the ability to identify and focus on the critical risks over differing time frames, at business and transactional levels.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of industry sectors and the characteristics of companies in these sectors
  • Able to present complex risks confidently and succinctly
  • Initiative and adaptability with a positive attitude and proactive approach
  • Assimilate information and process workflow quickly and arrive at decisions promptly without detriment to quality.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and to deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Desirable:
  • Experience of analysing corporates from developed and emerging markets within EMEA.
  • Active interest in global current affairs, economics and politics
  • Degree educated or equivalent professional certifications
  • Working towards or considering CFA
  • French language skills, would be a benefit but not required
