A growing independent merchant based in Hedge End is seeking a Senior Credit Controller who will take ownership of the credit control process. This role involves building strong relationships, influencing decision-making, and providing insights to support strategic growth. Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the credit control process, ensuring timely payments.
  • Build relationships with customers' AP teams to resolve issues quickly.
  • Partner with finance and non-finance teams to balance opportunities with risk.
  • Monitor credit limits and lead weekly credit review meetings.
  • Produce daily credit reports and support monthly reporting packs.
  • Liaise with sales team and credit insurers to minimize exposure.
  • Drive process improvements to strengthen cash flow.

Our client is looking for someone who isn't just chasing debt but driving smarter decision-making, partnering with sales and operations, and owning the credit function end to end.

What You ll Be Doing:
  • Taking full ownership of the credit control process, ensuring payments are made on time.
  • Building strong relationships with customers AP teams to prevent delays and resolve issues fast.
  • Partnering with finance and non-finance teams to balance commercial opportunities with risk.
  • Monitoring credit limits and leading weekly credit review meetings, flagging risks and opportunities.
  • Producing daily credit reporting and supporting monthly reporting packs with clear, actionable insights.
  • Liaising with the sales team and credit insurers to support trading and minimise exposure.
  • Driving process improvements to reduce debtor days and strengthen cash flow.
What We re Looking For:
  • Proven senior credit control experience in a fast-paced commercial environment.
  • Highly analytical and commercially minded, confident influencing at all levels.
  • Advanced Excel skills comfortable manipulating data and building reports.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills across finance and non-finance functions.
  • Experience producing monthly reporting packs and presenting key findings to leadership.
  • Credit risk management expertise.
  • ICM qualification (or working towards) is desirable.
