Interim Credit Controller - 6 month contract

A fast‑paced, product‑led consumer brand is looking for an Interim Credit Controller to support its UK wholesale operations during a period of continued growth. Reporting into the Credit Control Manager, this role will take ownership of a large portfolio of customer accounts and play a key role in maintaining timely collections, resolving queries and supporting improvements across credit processes.

You’ll work closely with internal teams including sales, customer services and logistics, ensuring a smooth and professional experience for customers while reducing aged debt and improving data accuracy.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of 500–600 customer accounts, ensuring timely and proactive collection of outstanding balances.
  • Act as the main point of contact for customer account queries via phone and email.
  • Perform credit risk assessments and support decision‑making on customer credit limits.
  • Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, maintaining accurate account reconciliations.
  • Allocate payments accurately and ensure customer accounts remain up to date.
  • Produce reporting on aged debt, cash collection performance and credit risk exposure.
  • Contribute to process improvements and automation within the credit control function.
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of payment allocation and reconciliation processes.
  • Confident using Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables) and familiar with SAP or D365.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage customer relationships effectively.
  • Proactive, organised and comfortable handling a high workload with accuracy.
