Fire Protection Coatings Specialist

As a Fire Protection Coatings Specialist, you will be working in a global passive fire protection estimation team, interpreting the customer’s exact requirements to produce an estimate of STEELGUARD product requirements and/or specification requirements. You will excel in effective communication, offering estimates to the customer, sales team, and project tracking in order to assist the Estimation and Sales Team to ensure estimates are converted to orders.

What you will be doing
- Support global, regional, and local sales teams by producing accurate estimates of intumescent paint thickness and quantities required to fire-protect steel structures.
- Coordinate with the project specification team, BDM, and/or field technical specialists to understand project requirements and recommend the correct product for each application.
- Perform detailed material take-offs using PlanSwift software.
- Extract and interpret critical information from engineering drawings and bills of materials/quantities using AutoCAD (2D/3D) and BIM-based software to support accurate estimation tasks.
- Calculate technically correct STEELGUARD products thicknesses using Quantifire.
- Maintain and update the daily project tracker and enquiry register.
- Continuously enhance your technical knowledge in areas such as steel structure design, Cellulosic & Hydrocarbon Fire protection.
Qualifications
- A degree in Engineering (B.E Civil – desirable, or Mechanical).
- Min. +3yrs background in industries such as Structural Steel Quantity Estimation, Steel Drawings, Mechanical Engineering, Steel Design & Fabrication, Architecture, or Passive Fire Protection/Intumescent Coatings.
- Previous experience as a Structural Steel Quantity Surveyor/Estimator is preferable.
- Hands-on experience with CAD, Microsoft OÙffice, and ideally 3D BIM tools.
- Strong ability to read and interpret structural engineering and architectural drawings, with a broad knowledge of structural steelwork and general engineering principles.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders to gather all necessary technical details for accurate project quantification.
- Ability to quantify steelwork materials in a structured, listed format is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of paint technology, particularly STEELGUARD products, along with knowledge of passive fire protection principles (desirable).
- Strong ability to manage time effectively, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and collaborate well within a team environment.
