Job description

As Cover Supervisor you will complement the professional work of teachers by delivering agreed learning activities to whole classes during short-term staff absences. You will ensure continuity of learning, manage classroom behaviour, and support students in overcoming barriers to learning.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise whole classes during teacher absence, delivering pre-set work.
  • Maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Provide feedback on student progress and behaviour.
  • Support curriculum areas and contribute to resource development.
  • Assist with classroom displays and general teaching support.
  • Undertake break and lunchtime duties as part of the school rota.
  • Accompany students on educational visits and trips.
  • Support other areas of the school when cover demand is low.
Qualifications
  • Confident, adaptable and proactive individual who enjoys working with young people and is committed to supporting their learning.
  • Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively, deliver pre-prepared lessons, and provide feedback on student progress.
  • Experience in a school setting is desirable, but not essential; we welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds who are passionate about education and making a difference.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent or higher).
  • Experience working with or caring for children or young people.
  • Understanding of the national curriculum and basic learning strategies.
  • A calm, adaptable and positive approach to managing student behaviour.

Salary: part-time (14‑21 hours/2‑3 days per week) starting at £9,999‑£14,999; full time equivalent starting salary is £29,064, Grade 5.
