Overview

Our MOJ client HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is an agency of the Ministry of Justice. HMCTS provides administrative support for the legal system across England and Wales, ensuring justice works for everyone.

Our justice system defends fundamental rights and freedoms and must serve all who call on it. The client is recruiting temporary court ushers to join a busy team in Nottingham City Centre, with the role initially until the end of December 2025 (likely extension) and a further extension beyond March 2026. The role is full-time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Pay rate: £12.21 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Primarily ushering within the court
  • Greeting members of the public
  • Liaising with judiciary, witnesses, jurors and other court users with professionalism
  • Basic admin duties, data entry, dealing with queries, preparing juror packs for trials
  • Walking jurors to and from court while maintaining social distancing
  • Preparation of court rooms
  • Providing support to all court users, including those visiting for the first time
  • Filing and post room duties
Qualifications & Skills
  • Good basic admin experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm in potentially difficult situations and maintain professionalism with a variety of court users
  • Excellent customer service skills
Benefits & Training

Full training will be provided. Upon completion of training, you will work in the Nottingham Courts. Pay includes holiday pay and a pension scheme.
