Overview

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to join the Transport team at the Worcestershire Acute NHS Foundation Trust, as a driver for our busy transport department.

The role involves driving the Trust fleet to provide services to our hospitals and other NHS organisations throughout Worcestershire and Birmingham. Our fleet comprises 13 vehicles, including one 3.5-ton box van. A full detailed training programme will be provided for the post holder. Main duties

The post holder will be part of a transport department team, driving competently and safely one of our fleet vehicles. Responsibilities include daily safety checks, keeping the vehicle clean and tidy, and working under the direction of the Portering Co-ordinator & Transport Supervisor for job allocation. Daily vehicle log sheets, journey forms, and defect reports must be completed. May be required to work across our 3 hospital sites in exceptional circumstances.

Job responsibilities

Main responsibilities include delivering and collecting items from our hospitals within Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and other NHS organisations across Worcestershire and Birmingham. This includes transporting patient-sensitive data, specimens (in compliance with legislation), internal and external post, movement of expensive hospital equipment, delivery and collection of time-critical pharmacy products, and transporting theatre instruments between hospital sites.

Qualifications - Essential

Ability to work within and as part of a team and also independently. Excellent verbal, thinking and reasoning skills. Good understanding of Health & Safety. Basic computer knowledge to complete online learning. Holds a full UK driving licence with 5 years’ experience.

  • Confident in driving commercial vehicles up to 3.5T
