Job summary

A well-established legal outfit is seeking a Costs Draftsman who enjoys drafting legal costs schedules in a hybrid work environment. You will draft schedules primarily for Housing Disrepair and Environmental Act matters, and negotiate costs to ensure recovery. The ideal candidate has around two years of costs drafting experience, and strong communication skills. Flexible remote/hybrid (4 days remote / 1 day onsite)

If you're a Costs Draftsman who actually enjoys the craft rather than the chaos, this one is worth a look.

Our client is a well-established legal outfit that treats people properly and offers flexibility that doesn't feel like it was written by HR in 1997

Hybrid is genuinely hybrid, not the old “three days in, two days if you behave”. You can expect one or two office days per week max onsite, with plenty of remote freedom around that.

What you’ll be doing
  • Drafting legal costs schedules for hearings, mainly across Housing Disrepair and Environmental Act matters
  • Negotiating costs on concluded cases and ensuring recovery without unnecessary faff
  • Liaising with fee earners and solicitors to keep costs accurate and timely
  • Supervising and supporting junior costs paralegals
  • Carrying out enforcement activity where relevant
  • Pitching in with general team duties when needed
