Job description

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading energy generation company to recruit a Controls and Instrumentation Engineer to be based at their Energy from Waste site in Worcestershire.

The Controls and Instrumentation role comes with a salary of up to ₩65,000 + benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all control and instrumentation systems are correctly operated, maintained, tested, and calibrated in line with statutory and site requirements.
  • Lead and develop a team of C&I Technicians, providing technical direction, performance management, and ongoing training.
  • Maintain and optimise the site’s Distributed Control System (DCS) and Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS), ensuring compliance with environmental and operational standards.
  • Plan, manage, and oversee maintenance and calibration contracts for specialist systems including DCS, CEMS, water treatment, and security systems.
  • Support audits, compliance activities, and procurement processes in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager.
  • Develop and implement obsolescence and cyber security strategies for control and instrumentation systems.
  • Provide fault diagnosis, emergency support, and cross‑discipline technical assistance to maintain plant reliability and performance.
Professional qualifications
  • Minimum HNC (Higher National Certificate) or higher in Control & Instrumentation, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least five years’ post‑qualification experience in a C&I role within a power generation, process, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of DCS and CEMS systems, with proven hands‑on troubleshooting and maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams and external maintenance contractors.
  • Solid understanding of process control systems, safety standards, and compliance frameworks.

  • Analytical and disciplined, with a structured approach to problem‑solving and fault investigation.
  • Confident leader and communicator, able to mentor technical staff and collaborate effectively with other engineering functions.
  • Proactive and independent, with a commitment to reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Salary and benefits

Basic salary of ₩50,000 - ₩66,000.
