A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced hands on control systems engineer to join a leading manufacturing company.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of the Maintenance team to ensure the site is operating in a safe and productive manner and maintain and improve undertaking all duties in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and working to all relevant standards.
- Creating EC&I drawings (e.g., Block Cable Diagrams, Single Line Diagrams), technical specifications, and basis of design documents.
- Producing and checking various documents like risk registers, testing strategies, method statements, and technical files for new equipment.
- Participating in HAZOPs, design reviews, and contributing to safety case development.
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant standards, legislation, and project requirements, including safety and functional safety aspects.
- Checking the quality of design deliverables and ensuring they meet the required standards.
- Supporting the commissioning process, potentially including site visits and overnight stays.
- Identifying and resolving technical issues, often requiring a proactive and practical approach.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems effectively.
- Diagnostic and Repair of equipment
- The site electrical distribution
- 415v 3-phase, 110v & 240v electrical equipment
- DCS/PLC and hard-wired control systems.
- PLC based control loops.
- Hard-wired solenoid control loops and safety systems
- Coordinate functional testing of basic process control systems.
- Carry out routine proof testing of safety instrumented systems and critical alarms.
- Isolate or Immobilise plant safely and to company procedure
- Record and maintain records of all electrical, control and instrumentation systems across the site, utilising the Company CMMS system, ensuring they are accurate and up to date at all times
- Read and extract information from drawings, specification diagrams, operation, and maintenance manuals.
- Maintain site electrical circuit and layout diagrams.
- Perform and record risk assessments for routine and non-routine tasks.
- Work with the project team delivering and commissioning on site projects.
- Be actively involved in training and continuous improvement, write up training notes and share information with the EC & I Technicians
Beneficial Skills / Qualifications
- Must hold a level 3 electrical qualification and/or have completed a full electrical apprenticeship.
- Must hold IPAF certificate (or be prepared to carry out IPAF training)
- Must be trained in BS7671 wiring regulations.
- Must have a suitable knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations
- Knowledge of BS60079 (An advantage)
- knowledge of BS EN 61508 and BS EN 61511 (An advantage)
- Excellent understanding of the English Language, both verbal and written
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Effective coaching and performance management skills
- Excellent PC skills, including MS Office software
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
