Job description

This is a fixed term appointment of a Vascular surgeon to support the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Vascular Centre. The existing team has 7 Vascular Surgeons and five interventional radiologists. The post is based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary but the post holder will work across hospital sites. The post holder will be responsible for the continued delivery and further enhancement of a highly regarded Vascular Service for patients living within the catchment area Doncaster and Bassetlaw, and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities
  • To maintain the highest clinical standards in the care of patients with Vascular problems
  • To provide out-patient and in-patient care for patients with Vascular problems.
  • To participate in the out-of hours on call rota for vascular surgery
  • To share with colleagues the provision of Vascular advice to medical and surgical inpatients
  • To work with colleagues, both medical and nursing to improve and advance the service
  • To share with colleagues the responsibility for the management of the Department
  • To share with colleagues the responsibility for teaching and training of trainees, Resident medical staff, nursing staff, primary care colleagues and medical students.
  • To participate actively in Clinical Audit and Clinical Governance work to ensure continual improvements in the quality and safety of care
  • To participate in the recruitment of patients to clinical trials
  • To maintain and further personal learning through generic Trust training and Specialty Specific training (CPD)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward-looking Consultant Vascular Surgeon with endovascular skills who will contribute to the further development and delivery of evidence-based vascular and endovascular services across the Trust. You will be flexible and innovative, helping to develop a vascular service capable of surviving the pressures on the NHS. The department has a strong record of innovation and the new appointees should ideally offer expertise in a sub specialist area complementary to those offered by the present consultants.
