A regional healthcare provider in Cheltenham is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist LD to provide senior medical advice and leadership. This post covers the very picturesque Cotswolds North area which is semi‑rural, with an urban patch as well. The team base is in the Spa town of Cheltenham which is just off Junction 12 on the M5 motorway with quick and easy links to Birmingham and the North as well as the Bristol and the South West. The train station is within 1.5miles (15-20min walk) to the team base.
Your office will be based in the sort after Leckhampton area with a designated Medical Secretary. You will work with a full MDT comprising LD nurses, Phycologist, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language therapy and Physiotherapy. We also offer Family therapy services which can be negotiated with the Psychology Team. The caseload encompasses individuals with varying degrees of Intellectual disabilities, neurodivergence, epilepsy as well as complex physical health conditions.
It is a popular post for both Core and Senior Resident Doctors. There are opportunities to Lead on one of our 10 clinical pathways as a Medical representative. We work closely with our Intensive Support Team and Health outreach team for those at risk of placement breakdown and who require escalation to the Dynamic Support Register. We meet regularly with our ICB colleagues and local authority colleagues to create and support bespoke care and support plans for patients under our care.
The role will entail providing senior medical advice, support, consultancy and clinical leadership within the North Locality of the team alongside the Medical Lead for LD.
You are expected to work alongside a multidisciplinary team to support patients in the area mainly through outpatient clinics and community visits.
A key part of this role is the support and training of resident doctors of varying levels. Including attendance at postgraduate medical education sessions.
