A prominent healthcare institution in the UK seeks a skilled surgeon specializing in plastic surgery and skin cancer management. The successful candidate will perform lymph node biopsy surgeries and contribute to a multidisciplinary skin cancer service, working with teams from Dermatology and Oncology. Responsibilities include teaching, research participation, and ensuring high-quality care. This role requires on-call commitments and offers an opportunity to work within a major trauma center, emphasizing collaboration and professional growth.
Appointee is expected to be competent to offer patients sentinel lymph node biopsy surgery and nodal block dissections of the axilla and groin. Successful candidate is expected to be versatile in all aspects of plastic surgery trauma requiring input during on call.
New appointee will work closely with colleagues from Dermatology, Oncology and Radiotherapy departments and be part of a truly multidisciplinary skin cancer service. The post attracts a 1:12 on‑call commitment alongside a 1:12 Trauma Consultant of the week rota. Part of this job will incorporate clinical duties at the Royal Surrey County Hospital (one day a week) aiming to facilitate network pathway for skin cancer patients and offer general plastic surgery support.
The appointee is expected to develop and undertake research in the field of skin cancer surgery, undertake teaching duties of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff as well as allied health professionals. Participation in audit and research and Trust clinical governance programme will be essential.
