Job description
Position

We are seeking an experienced part‑time/any 4 days per week Consultant Neuropsychiatrist who will work at Cygnet Hospital Brunel and provide senior medical cover on Pilot Ward, our 10 bed male service for patients with brain injury and acute psychiatric comorbidity with behavioural disorders and Yawl Ward, our 6 bed male neuropsychiatric service focusing on transition into the community and discharge.

The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and will oversee and maintain the care of all ward inpatients as required and will also have responsibility for auditing the medical services rendered at the ward and ensuring their good quality in accordance to GMC standards of good medical practice and other relevant professional guidelines.

In this role, your expertise will be the driving force for life‑changing treatment fully supported by a Specialty Doctor and first‑class multidisciplinary team including qualified nurses, psychologist and occupational therapist.

And you'll have the opportunity to progress to Medical Director Level through our management schemes.

Main Duties

Cygnet Hospital Brunel offers an extensive Neuropsychiatric treatment, care and rehabilitation pathway which is unique in its ability to provide a dedicated pathway to meet the complex needs of service users within their care.

The individually designed wards facilitate a clear and distinctive care and treatment pathway for those affected by an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), where behaviours that challenge are the overarching impairment to recovery and rehabilitation.

The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and have overall medical responsibility of patient treatment plans, whilst liaising closely with the Multi‑Disciplinary Team (Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Registered Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers etc.).

The post holder will be expected to act as a positive role model, maintaining and demonstrating a positive attitude towards patients, their families, visitors and other staff.
