A public health service in Dewsbury is seeking a gynaecologist to join their team as they prepare for the opening of a new surgical hub. The role involves providing high-quality care to women across Wakefield and North Kirklees. We have state of the art hospitals at Pontefract and Wakefield and a new surgical hub including gynaecology at Dewsbury Hospital. Within the gynaecology services, we have a dedicated Gynaecology assessment unit on the Pinderfields site and offer a wide range of comprehensive to our patients including:-A BSGE Regional Endometriosis centre-Dedicated Gynaecology assessment unit in Pinderfields-Outpatient clinics for Menopause, Colposcopy, Uro-gynaecology, Endometriosis, Hysteroscopy, Minor procedures and Post-menopause Bleeding.-Gynaecology oncology unit, working with Leeds Teaching Hospital Oncology teams.-Elective surgery at Pinderfields and Dewsbury Hospitals with access to Da Vinci Robots on both sites.-Elective Obstetric suites in Pinderfields Hospital.

About the role

The main duties of the post will include; • General Gynaecology Clinics - 9.00 – 13.00/13.30 – 17.30 • Regular Gynaecology day case and inpatient operating lists will ensure staff maintain their emergency gynaecology skills • Administrative duties, for which appropriate office space and secretarial support is provided • DCC is allocated for MDTs which are annualised • ‘Hot week’ cover for acute Gynaecology 08:00 – 18:00 hrs, Monday to Friday (1.5 pas) During Hot week this includes undertaking ward rounds. • Consultant pre and post-op ward rounds are allocated in the DCC for theatre sessions which are annualised • On-call duties for Gynaecology only shared with 14 colleagues on an approximately 1 in 8 basis (17:30 hours until 08:00 hours during weekdays off site cover and 08:00 to 11.00 hours during weekends on site cover) – typically non-patient-facing duties on a post-call day. On call (non resident) is paid at Band A. • Supporting Professional Activities in accordance with the Trust Framework, with at least a minimum of 1.5 SPAs included in the core 10PA timetable. Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidate and changing requirements of the service. • MYTT has a well established service for management of complex gynaecological surgery. We are the biggest BSGE regional centre for endometriosis in Yorkshire. We offer tertiary level sub-spec urogynaecolgy surgery service. We work in collaboration with Leeds Teaching Hospitals for gynaecology cancer cases. We are supported by a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, urologists and radiologists.
To meet the requirements of this role, applicants must demonstrate the following essential criteria:
Full GMC Registration with licence to practise Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCT (or CESR / equivalent)
Medical Degree from recognised medical school MRCOG or equivalent Eligibility to work in the UK
ATSM: Benign abdominal surgery: open and laparoscopic, or equivalent
Fully accredited BSCCP Colposcopist (Essential) On current BSCCP register as accredited Colposcopist. (essential)
Fully accredited by college and acceptable to college representative. Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of an Gynaecology Service Appropriate experience in Gynaecology To share with colleagues responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Service. Teaching and training of junior staff, medical students To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit. To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving. Good time management. Computer literate. Ability to contribute to the development of the Trust and its services. Ability to organise & manage e.g. outpatient priorities / theatre lists Experience of audit Ability & willingness to work within the Trust & NHS performance framework & targets Ability to manage & lead junior staff
