Job description

I have been assigned by an NHS Trust in London to help them recruit a Consultant in Dermatology on either a Substantive or NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months.

About the Dermatology Service

The Trust's Dermatology service is widely recognized for its comprehensive offerings, excellent facilities (including a dedicated library and Day Treatment Unit), and supportive management. Outpatient services are delivered across three main hospital sites, with satellite clinics at community hospitals and GP surgeries. Specialist outpatient clinics include Contact Dermatitis, Paediatric Allergy, Vulval Dermatoses, Paediatric Dermatology, Biologics/Drug Monitoring, Cosmetic Camouflage, Mohs Surgery, and PDT. Joint clinics are held with Plastic Surgery, and weekly MDT meetings are conducted via Microsoft Teams. There is also a dedicated Day Unit for dermatology patients. Inpatients are admitted under joint care with medical physicians, supervised by Specialist Dermatology Outreach nurses. Nurse-led clinics cover topical treatments, dressings, wound healing, cryotherapy, iontophoresis, phototherapy, PDT, and minor surgery.

Role Responsibilities
  • Fulfilling clinical responsibilities as a Consultant in Dermatology.
  • Participating in teaching activities within the department.
  • Engaging in management and development projects.
  • Participating actively in teaching and appraising junior staff and community clinicians.
  • Participating in clinical audits and implementing research findings.
  • Adhering to Trust and GMC standards for appraisal and revalidation.
  • Mentoring allocated colleagues.
Additional Information
  • No out-of-hours on-call; daytime second on-call shared equally among consultants.
  • Participation in clinical audit and research.
