Qualifications

Responsibilities
  • Hold and manage a small cohort of mentally disordered offenders, mainly restricted and MAPPA registered individuals, and others presenting high risk of harm to others in the community with the MDT until they can be safely transferred to General Adult Services.
  • Lead forensic clinical work and robust interagency working with statutory agencies involved in managing high‑risk patients in inpatient and community settings.
  • Provide forensic assessments and second opinions on risk management of male and female Derbyshire patients, shared with the other Forensic Consultants.
  • Provide clinical oversight of the Criminal Justice Pathway, support Liaison & Diversion Service and build links with PICU Team (Curzon Consultant).
  • Provide clinical oversight of the rehabilitation pathway using GIRFT principles and build links with Rehabilitation Service (Scarsdale Consultant).
  • Attend weekly business meetings, MDT CPD sessions, weekly community MDT meetings, and support trust‑wide Forensic Supervision Forum.
  • Support training of Specialist Registrars, teaching of Medical Students, initiate innovative research and engage in quality improvement projects.
Qualifications
  • Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist qualification and current registration with the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
  • Experience working with offenders and knowledge of the criminal justice system.
  • Skill in multidisciplinary teamwork, risk assessment and management, and clinical leadership.
  • Strong communication, organisational and teaching skills.
