Location: London

Contract Type: Insourcing - Fixed-Term (30 Weeks initially)

Rate: Competitive Daily Rate.

Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Community Paediatrician to support our Autism (ASD) assessment service as part of an insourcing contract. This 30-week fixed-term role is focused on helping reduce waiting times for neurodevelopmental assessments within the community paediatrics pathway. You will be working as part of a well-established multidisciplinary team, contributing to timely, high-quality autism assessments and diagnostic decision-making. Clinics will be based at a single site with full administrative and clinical support.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive developmental and neurodevelopmental assessments for children and young people referred for suspected Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary diagnostic decision-making in line with NICE guidelines.
  • Liaise with families, schools, and partner agencies as part of the assessment and feedback process.
  • Provide clear clinical documentation and contribute to EHCP and post-diagnostic support planning where needed.
  • Support the service in maintaining compliance with quality standards and reducing backlog in a timely manner.
Essential Requirements
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register in Paediatrics (or within 6 months of CCT).
  • Proven experience in neurodevelopmental assessments within community paediatrics, with a particular focus on Autism.
  • Knowledge of relevant diagnostic tools (e.g., ADOS, 3Di, or equivalent - training provided where necessary).
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Strong communication, report writing, and team-working skills.
