Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 9 months maternity leave cover for a Consultant Clinical Psychologist to join our innovative, adult mental health team which is integrated into Lancashire's Family Safeguarding Service.

We are looking for an organised, compassionate, and reflective individual who is passionate about working collaboratively with families to safeguard children. Responsibilities
  • Provide a high level of expertise, clinical leadership and clinical governance across the pan Lancashire Family Safeguarding service.
  • Take clinical leadership responsibility in the co-ordination and implementation of psychological care and ensure the systematic provision of high quality psychological and psychologically informed interventions.
  • Ensure that the service philosophy is underpinned by a strengths based, motivational interviewing approach, providing services compliant with NICE guidance and recognising the importance of relational aspects of assessment and therapy.
  • Develop, clinically lead and manage the service, provide line management and clinical supervision to the 8a and 8b Clinical Psychologists.
  • Provide psychological assessment, consultation and intervention to parents/partners open to the Family Safeguarding Service.
  • Oversee the evaluation of the psychological therapy service and attend management meetings, team meetings, and group supervision as needed.
  • Engage in wider service development within the Family Safeguarding Service and deliver training to disseminate psychological skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with Social Care colleagues including Social Workers, Domestic Abuse Practitioners, Substance Misuse Practitioners and Probation to provide high quality safe and effective care for service users.
About the service

The service is funded by Lancashire County Council to provide specialist assessment and treatment for parents of children open to the Family Saf safeguarding Service who have identified mental health difficulties impacting safeguarding. The integrated service is positioned at the primary care level, offering preventative early intervention. The aim is to provide families with the right mental health support, at the right time, in the aim of keeping families together when it is safe to do so.

Organisation and working arrangements

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care. The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.
