The Role

Main duties of the job
- Review the Home Treatment Team caseload in a multidisciplinary setting to ensure efficient and excellent care, reduce patient time on the caseload, prevent hospital admissions, and help form effective and lasting care plans enabling crisis patients to be returned to their community teams safely.
- Weekly screening of inpatient wards and assessment of patient suitability for early discharge under the Home Treatment Team, reducing inpatient length of stay, creating bed space, and reducing out-of-county admissions and placement at risk.
- Bi-weekly medical reviews of patients under the Home Treatment Team to update care plans and consolidate diagnoses and treatment.
- Due to geographic considerations, there will be a mixture of home visits and some scheduled clinics where patients in crisis are invited to outpatient review.
- In supporting professional activities time, contribute to developing the county crisis service and other aspects of emergency mental health care in Cornwall.

Qualifications
- Essential: CCT or equivalent in General Adult Psychiatry
- Desirable: Higher degree (MD, PhD, MSc or equivalent) or other clinical qualifications
Eligibility
- Essential: Full GMC Registration and licence
- Essential: Eligibility for Section 12 and AC Approval
- Essential: Inclusion (or eligibility for inclusion) on the Specialist Register or Specialty Trainee within 6 months of gaining CCT
Desirable: Section 12/AC Approval; Trainer Training for supervision of trainees
Teaching
- Essential: Evidence of teaching experience at postgraduate and/or undergraduate level
- Desirable: Evidence of organising teaching or medical education programmes; relevant teaching qualification
Research and Audit
- Essential: Experience of carrying out an audit project
- Desirable: Experience or involvement in a research project and publication
Clinical Skills, Knowledge and Experience
