This role involves planning and execution of construction projects, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure on-time and budget-compliant delivery. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of planning experience and be proficient in construction planning software. This is an opportunity with a well-established contractor.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ planning experience in a construction environment.
  • Proficient in Asta Powerproject and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing tender programmes and converting them into Master Construction Programmes.
  • Liaise with Planning Manager and Construction Directors to finalise programmes.
  • Prepare method statements and logistics plans.

Skills

Overview

Redrock Recruitment are seeking for their client a detail-oriented and proactive Construction Planner to join their team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the planning and execution of construction projects, ensuring that all activities are completed on time and within budget. The Construction Planner will collaborate with various stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and contractors, to develop comprehensive plans that facilitate efficient project delivery within a Tier 1 contractor working and tendering on Major Projects across the UK. This role will be based in Birmingham but will be required to be on site potentially 2 days a week with stay away costs to be covered. Experience in steel frame construction is essential for this role. This is a great opportunity to join a well established contractor with a very healthy order book.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing tender programmes and converting them into Master Construction Programmes
  • Liaise with Planning Manager, Construction Directors and Contract Managers to finalise and update programmes
  • Report progress and programme slippage to senior stakeholders
  • Prepare method statements, logistics plans, and periodic reviews of key project timelines
  • Maintain programme databases (Gateway) and ensure document control compliance
  • Uphold Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards in line with ISO requirements
  • Support company CPD, sustainability, and CSR initiatives
Requirements
  • Essential:
  • Minimum 3 years’ planning experience in a construction environment
  • Proficient in Asta Powerproject and/or Microsoft Project
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and project lifecycle
  • Excellent reporting and communication skills
  • Competent with Microsoft Office
  • Experience working on live construction sites
  • Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND/BTEC/Degree)
  • CSR or CSCS card
  • Desirable:
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar design tools
  • Understanding of tender documents, contracts, and commercial planning
  • Knowledge of web-based document management systems
  • CIOB accreditation
