A leading energy company in the UK seeks a Construction Manager to oversee site operations during development phases. You will manage construction activities, ensure compliance with safety standards, and serve as a liaison with stakeholders. To enact the role of Client Representative on site during development phase ensuring that the site-based construction activities including ground investigation surveys etc. across Scottish Power - Strategic Projects are efficiently managed.
Act as Construction subject matter expert – providing construction requirements to all stakeholders.
Provide construction input & identify construction constraint during development phase.
Ensure all existing / new construction elements have been identified and captured in the System Construction Authorisation (SCA) & Project Delivery Strategy (PDS) including review and finalisation of the stage-by-stage sequencing of construction works.
Review CDM Statutory Role Appointments including ensuring CDM requirements and general construction strategy is captured during meetings with all stakeholders.
Review the development programmes & ensure accuracy on resources interfaces (including other projects outages) task sequencing logic and timescales (deliverables durations against milestone). Also ensure construction requirements are incorporated into development programmes.
Act as construction risk owner during development phase of projects (involves risk identification risk assessment and risk treatment followed by monitoring) & provide lessons learned from previous projects.
Review construction requirements (e.g. compounds traffic movements storage areas offices access / egress etc.) during planning and consenting phase supporting Environmental planners for complaint Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) submission.
Publish Construction Methodology associated with EIA.
Provide construction inputs to Engineering for Special Engineering Difficulties (SEDs).
Prepare & compile Pre‑Construction Information for EPC contractors during procurement phase.
Ensure that the Principal Contractor (PC) is pro‑active in discharging their duties under the CDM regulations not least in managing all safety aspects of the construction‑based activities.
Review and comment on the deliverability of the PC Site Delivery Programmes and proactively monitor all activities promptly advising the EPC Project Manager of any risks opportunities or delays to programme which could impact the overall completion date or costs at completion.
Ensure the facilitation of regular site safety walks holding coordination meetings with all contractors on site ensuring that access / egress to the site is controlled and maintaining a site log / diary.
Review the suitability of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
Ensure the PC is proactive in holding Site Progress Meetings and issues minutes of these meetings.
Support Quality Assurance monitoring across the Strategic Projects.
Undertake the role of client representative for sensible monitoring of site construction activities and be familiar with all aspects of the contract documentation.
Enacting the role of Employers Supervisor under NEC contracts.
Issue site instructions following agreement from the EPC Project Manager and authenticate any record & sheets issued by the Principal Contractor in accordance with Strategic PMO change management procedure.
Coach mentor other members of staff as and when required.
Drive agreed OFGEM regulatory targets for Sustainability and Biodiversity.
