Responsibilities
- TEAMWORK: Working with the Lead Lawyer and your mini team, your role is to help manage a caseload of complex injury claims, including high-value multi-track large loss claims.
- Dealing with insurer clients, addressing their queries, and providing updates as the matter progresses.
- ANALYSIS: Conduct forensic analysis of voluminous quantum evidence.
- STRATEGY: Draft concise technical advice on claim handling, including advice on reserves, indemnity, liability, quantum, causation issues, and claims resolution strategies for discussion with the Lead Lawyer.
- PROACTIVITY: Identify next steps, discuss with the Lead Lawyer, and take action accordingly.
- TECHNICAL: Interview witnesses, draft statements, liaise with involved parties, draft pleadings and applications, instruct counsel, and attend conferences, mediations, and court proceedings as required.
- TARGETS: Achieve performance targets, including chargeable hours and quality standards.
- DELEGATION: Assign tasks to and develop junior team members in their technical abilities and objectives.
- CASE MANAGEMENT: Maintain case management systems with up-to-date information for clients.
Working Hours: This is a full-time role - 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Qualified solicitor, CILEX, or proven relevant legal experience.
- Experience in Defendant Large Loss claims handling is essential, ideally with 2-3 years' experience in EL/PL PI matters.
- Claimant background considered if relevant EL/PL multi-track experience is demonstrated.
- Experience in indemnity, liability, and quantum is essential.
- Experience handling complex medical issues.
- Critical thinking and quantum analysis skills.
- Understanding of case law, litigation practice, Court Practice Rules.
- Ability to follow instructions, with attention to detail, and provide clear guidance to junior team members.
